Back plats: This is a photo of Town Block 5 E facing north toward Church Street. The Old New Harmony Train Depot, which was being used as the New Harmony Visitor's Center, had been moved to this plat from Third Street and was again moved to 801 North Street. This plat was also the site of the Old Community House Dorm #3, which was converted to a hotel after Owen and Maclure purchased the town in 1824. This building was still listed on the 1943 updated Sanborn Fire Insurance Map, although it was listed as being vacant. The American Legion Post #370 can be seen across Church Street.
