Chaffin's Saloon: Charlie Chaffin was born a New Harmony resident in 1881 to John ""Horacio"" and Edith Applegate Chaffin. At the age of 19 he was already listed as a bartender, probably at his father's saloon, on the 1900 United States Census, by the 1910 Census, at the age of 29 he was listed as the proprietor of the saloon. This historic photo was probably taken within his saloon, most likely located at what is now 516 Main Street. The photo shows Charles on the far right side of the photo. The man behind the bar is possibly his cousin Edwin Chaffin Ford.
