Description
Lewis House: This small house was moved from town block 7 E/SW, one plat east of 718 Main Street, to town block 6 C/SW at 312 Steam Mill Street. It was built in 1890 and at some point after 1975 went through a major remodel after it had been moved. The house was moved by Elmer Buchta moving engineers, a company that did most if not all of the moving in New Harmony at this time. In this photo the house has been moved off of town block 7 E and is sitting on Steam Mill Street about to be moved to the new location. On the left side of the photo the red brick building is located at 615 Brewery Street and the house west of that is at 524 Steam Mill. On the right side of the photo the brown wood house is located at 511 Steam Mill and the blue house is 700 Main Street.
