Description
This small brick building is located between 611 Main Street and the Ribeyre Gymnasium complex. It has a long history of well over 100 years. This small shop had been a butcher shop since at least 1888 but which had closed by 1907, see UA58- 8616. At some point it was likely a bait or fishing shop. In the 1970s it was Mounts Tax Service, and then Brush And Comb beauty shop. In this photo the shop is being extended on the west side, the back of the building. There is also an old painted sign on the stucco wall which reads Minnows $1.50 for 100. The original shutter hangers can be seen on the window to the right of the door.
