Description

Owen's Market: This building, located at 602 Main Street, has a long history. It was constructed prior to 1888, at which time the Independent Order of Odd Fellows hall was on the second floor. By 1899 a millinery shop was located in the first floor right a B&S Express Office on the left first floor with the I.O.O.F. hall still on the second floor. By 1907 the only thing left in the building is a Harness and Express shop on the left first floor. Owen's Market had been in the building since at least 1960, probably much earlier than this, and in 2013 New Harmony Deli and Grocery Co. was located in this building. To the right of the Owen's Market is the old fire house, now 604 and 606 Main, and the City Building at 608 Main Street.
