The Monitor Corner: This Building is located at 515 Main Street and sits on the corner of Main and Tavern Streets. This building/plat has a long history and was the site of several occurrences. On August 17, 1908 it was the site of the Monitor corner fire, in which it and several other buildings were completely destroyed. The building was rebuilt, however, on May 11, 1998, three months shy of 90 years later, the same corner and buildings burned to the ground again. Once again the corner was rebuilt and still stands in 2021.
