Transparencies and Negatives Collection: Historic photographs. The Rappite Church/New Harmony School: In 1873 the old brick Rappite Church was mostly demolished, except for the east wing which held the Working Mans Institute library. The bricks from the old church were used to build a wall around the original Rappite cemetery. The building was then remodeled and rebuilt to house the New Harmony School. This building remained in use until it was demolished in 1913 then rebuilt again in order to modernize the school. This photo shows construction workers standing in front of the new school building which opened in 1914.
