Transparencies and Negatives Collection: Historic photographs. Chaffin�s Corner was located at the corner of Church and Brewery Streets. It was called Chaffin�s corner because Lycurgus Chaffin had a large two-story building built on the corner in the late 1800s and it was this structure which burned down in 1893. This is a photo of Chaffin�s Corner (corner of Brewery and Church Street), facing west, before the fire of 1893.
