Historic Photo. Streets Collection: Main Street. This photo is a winter scene taken near the intersection of Main and Church Streets facing toward the south. The large building near the center of the photo, on the right side, is where Ribeyre Gymnasium was later constructed. The businesses on the right side from the left the are: The Monitor Saloon which burned to the ground on 16 - 17 August 1908, Loren Davis' Ice Cream Parlor, F. J. Miller & Co. Drug Store, H. D. Long's Bakery and Butcher Shop, Charles Pretzsch Lyric Theatorium joined with Charles Pretzsch Hardware Store, the second floor housed a gunsmith shop also owned by Pretzsch, Charles Pretzsch's Drug Store, and New Harmony Banking Company. The left side of the street houses these businesses from right to left: Unknown saloon, The First National Bank, A pharmacy and Phone exchange, Grocery Store and second floor print shop, Henry Brown's clothing store, an unknown saloon, and Lichtenberger Dry Goods and Furniture store. Two sleds can also be seen propped against a wall on the left side of the photo.
