Charlie Chaffin: Charles Lycurgus Chaffin was born in New Harmony on January 6, 1881 to John Horatio Chaffin and Edith Applegate Chaffin. He had two wives Clara E. Baechle Chaffin, whom he married on October 14, 1903 until her death on September 8, 1933. They had a daughter named Gladys Catherine Chaffin Alsop. His second wife was Audrey Beard Chaffin, who was two years behind his daughter Gladys in high school. By the age of 19 he had begun tending bar for his father's establishment, and by the age of 29 he taken over his father's saloon. Their establishment was probably on either Church Street or Main Street. Charles Passed away on November 30, 1955 and is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery.
