Historic Photo. Streets Collection: Main Street. This photo shows Main Street facing toward the north close to the corners of Main and South Streets. The water is deep enough in the center of the street to reach the chest of a horse pulling a buggy through it. The stone building on the left side is located at 811 Main Street and is still present as of 2021. Holy Angels Rectory is seen beyond the stone house on the left side of the photo. The large building on the right is a storage warehouse which was later demolished to build E. E. Boyer's Service Station (before 1924), which was also later demolished for the Lanark Construction during the 1970s.
