Bauer House: This house was originally located on the north side of North Street in town block 2 C/SE old town plat no. 19. It was moved to the new location at 518 First Street before construction on the Atheneum had begun. Elmer Buchta Moving Engineers was contracted for this, and many other buildings moved during the 1970s. This is a photo of the house after the bricks had been removed for relocation. Note the stacks of ties on the right side of the house which were used to lift the house from the foundation.
