Streets Collection: Tavern Street. Historic Photo. This photo was taken after the Monitor Saloon fire occurred on August 16, 1908. The hose carriage is still present in the photo spraying down ash and smoldering rubble. The four visible buildings on the right side of the photo are, Lichtenberger Furniture and China shop and third floor Masonic Hall, Lichtenberger Dry Goods and B & S, a saloon, Henry Brown clothing store and Knights of Pythias Hall on second floor. The burned out building on the left is the remnants of H. D. Longs Bakery and Butcher Shop.
