TY - GEN AB - New Harmony Times Building: This building is located at 516 Main Street. This building, and the plat itself, have a long history it is listed on the 1869 New Harmony Plat Map as belonging to Victor C. Duclos. The first building on the plat was a small wooden structure (UA58 7529 barely visible on the extreme far left) before a brick structure was constructed on the plat, probably in the early 1890s. On the 1888 Sanborn Map it is shown as being a saloon but was briefly a shoe store in the early to mid-1890s before reverting to a saloon again by 1899. During the 1970s the building was home to the New Harmony Times newspaper. Today (2021), it is home to Pops Bar and restaurant. This is a photo of the front face of the building, which by this time had lost all of the decorative stonework it once had at the turn of the twentieth century.
