W. Lichtenberger and Sons Store: The original store was located at 518 Main Street (UA58 7502) it later incorporated 520 Main also (UA58 7509 last two buildings on the far right), on the northeast corner of Tavern and Main. The brick building has been there since at least 1888 since it is shown on the Sanborn Map at that time. F(redrick). W. Lichtenberger and Sons are listed in the 1882 Posey County History and Directory as dealers in dry goods and furniture. The building had a third story built on to it at some point after 1900 but before 1907 when the Free Mason's added their hall above it. During the 1970s, the building became the site of Sass and Posss tavern, the sign of which is still on the building today. Today (2021), it is the site of Samuels Place tavern. This photo shows the demolition of the rear of the building, where one of Fredrick's sons, William, was a tinsmith and operated a shop. 001550763 542__ $$fhttp://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/ 001550763 6531_ $$aBinder 17 001550763 6531_ $$aTown Map 5E/SW 001550763 6531_ $$aCommunal Studies 001550763 6531_ $$aPhotographs 001550763 6531_ $$aRegional History 001550763 6531_ $$aRelated Materials -- 1951-2000 001550763 655__ $$aColor Slide 001550763 691__ $$aIndiana 001550763 7001_ $$aHistoric New Harmony 001550763 8564_ $$9308c2972-3076-4839-a4f0-c3ada3cca145$$s1367824$$uhttps://library.usi.edu/record/1550763/files/5707.jpg 001550763 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1550763$$pGLOBAL_SET 001550763 914__ $$ap17218coll9 001550763 980__ $$aHistoric New Harmony Slide Collection 001550763 984__ $$aHistoric New Harmony Slide Collection 001550763 985__ $$aImage
