Description
School House: This building was established from the remodeled Rappite/Harmonist church in 1874 see MSS 247-5130. It stood where Church Park is now located at the corner of Church and West Streets. This photo was fabricated with parts of several photographs put together, which sometimes occurred with town postcards. This one was made for the town's centennial celebration in 1914. The old school was torn down during this time and a new building erected in its place using the old stone door arch. During the late 1970s the second building was demolished and a new school was constructed at 1000 East Street, which was closed completely in 2012. The original stone arch was incorporated into the new Church Park constructed on the original church and school site.
