Description

Lewis House: This small house was moved from town block 7 E/SW, one plat east of 718 Main Street, to town block 6 C/SW at 312 Steam Mill Street. It was built in 1890 and at some point after 1975 went through a major remodel after it had been moved. The house was moved by Elmer Buchta moving engineers, a company that did most if not all of the moving in New Harmony at this time. In this photo the house is being maneuvered into place on Steam Mill Street. The house just to the right, across the alley is located at 316 Steam Mill.
