This photo shows the Harrison and Morton Campaign: 1888 Presidential Campaign. Benjamin Harrison and Levi Morton campaign parade in New Harmony on Church Street headed west. Harrison, a Republican, went on to defeat, the Democratic incumbent president Grover Cleveland at the polls on November 6th of that year. Harrison is most likely the man who is standing, Morton is probably the man who is sitting on the edge of the wagon. The building in the background, on the right side of the photo, was destroyed during the Chaffins corner fire in 1893. The band wagon was built by the New Harmony Band in 1871. 001551324 542__ $$fhttp://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/ 001551324 6531_ $$aBinder 33 001551324 6531_ $$aTown Map 5E 001551324 6531_ $$aCommunal Studies 001551324 6531_ $$aPhotographs 001551324 6531_ $$aRegional History 001551324 6531_ $$aRelated Materials -- 1851-1900 001551324 655__ $$aColor Slide 001551324 691__ $$aIndiana 001551324 7001_ $$aHistoric New Harmony 001551324 8564_ $$95efec568-c88f-4ae9-9551-6d7dc9200c74$$s1622261$$uhttps://library.usi.edu/record/1551324/files/7421.jpg 001551324 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1551324$$pGLOBAL_SET 001551324 914__ $$ap17218coll9 001551324 980__ $$aHistoric New Harmony Slide Collection 001551324 984__ $$aHistoric New Harmony Slide Collection 001551324 985__ $$aImage
