Description

J.T. Soper Corn Wearhouse: This building was located on the northeast corner of North and Main Streets. It is present on the 1888 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map the 1899 Sanborn Map lists it as belonging to J.T. Soper. Earlier Sanborn Maps list it simply as a warehouse without listing ownership. The property is listed as being owned by V.C. Pelham from 1869 to at least 1880. This photo shows the demolition of the Donald Granary, possibly the last owner of the plat. The property was acquired by The Robert Lee Blaffer Foundation and the Barrett Gate House now stands at this location.
