Description
Historic Photos: This is a historic photo of Church Street, facing east, from the corner at Main Street. The photo was taken before the 1893 Chaffin's Corner Fire, as the configuration of the buildings indicates. At this time the hotel, the three story building near the right side of the photo, was still called ""The Viet's House"". Note the hog in the street near the center of the photo. Pigs in the street had become an issue and were ordered off the streets in 1885 and then again in 1893.
