The Beal house was constructed around 1829 by John Beal, who was a carpenter in the Owen and Maclure community. Beal constructed the house from lumber and timbers from an older horse barn. The new location would be the site of the Beal House and 1850s Doctor's Office (The Doctor's Office was a remodel of the Kemmerling House, which was also moved to this site). Elmer Buchta Moving Engineers was contracted for this and many other building moves during the 1970s. This photo shows the Beal House with the wattle and daub filled timber frame, which had been left exposed under glass, as an example of how these type of walls were made. 001551893 542__ $$fhttp://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/ 001551893 6531_ $$aBinder 18 001551893 6531_ $$aTown Map 5F/NW 001551893 6531_ $$aCommunal Studies 001551893 6531_ $$aPhotographs 001551893 6531_ $$aRegional History 001551893 6531_ $$aRelated Materials -- 1951-2000 001551893 655__ $$aColor Slide 001551893 691__ $$aIndiana 001551893 7001_ $$aHistoric New Harmony 001551893 8564_ $$9440eb06a-3dd4-47db-9fc3-ef245775f5b5$$s4660866$$uhttps://library.usi.edu/record/1551893/files/5996.jp2 001551893 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1551893$$pGLOBAL_SET 001551893 914__ $$ap17218coll9 001551893 980__ $$aHistoric New Harmony Slide Collection 001551893 984__ $$aHistoric New Harmony Slide Collection 001551893 985__ $$aImage
