The Beal house was constructed around 1829 by John Beal, who was a carpenter in the Owen and Maclure community. Beal constructed the house from lumber and timbers from an older horse barn. The new location would be the site of the Beal House and 1850s Doctor's Office (The Doctor's Office was a remodel of the Kemmerling House, which was also moved to this site). Elmer Buchta Moving Engineers was contracted for this and many other building moves during the 1970s. In this photo the house is being towed onto Brewery Street for the move to the new location on Church Street. The Barret House can be seen behind it near the center of the photo. On the left side of the photo is the Charles Ford Retirement Community. 001551976 542__ $$fhttp://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/ 001551976 6531_ $$aBinder 18 001551976 6531_ $$aTown Map 5F/NW 001551976 6531_ $$aCommunal Studies 001551976 6531_ $$aPhotographs 001551976 6531_ $$aRegional History 001551976 6531_ $$aRelated Materials -- 1951-2000 001551976 655__ $$aColor Slide 001551976 691__ $$aIndiana 001551976 7001_ $$aHistoric New Harmony 001551976 8564_ $$95b87e08c-fbb6-4a84-9426-32003e63674f$$s4567521$$uhttps://library.usi.edu/record/1551976/files/4206.jp2 001551976 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1551976$$pGLOBAL_SET 001551976 914__ $$ap17218coll9 001551976 980__ $$aHistoric New Harmony Slide Collection 001551976 984__ $$aHistoric New Harmony Slide Collection 001551976 985__ $$aImage
