The Beal house was constructed around 1829 by John Beal, who was a carpenter in the Owen and Maclure community. Beal constructed the house from lumber and timbers from an older horse barn. The new location would be the site of the Beal House and 1850s Doctor's Office (The Doctor's Office was a remodel of the Kemmerling House, which was also moved to this site). Elmer Buchta Moving Engineers was contracted for this and many other building moves during the 1970s. In this photo the house is headed north on Brewery toward the new location on Church Street. Ahead of it, just through the porch posts, the Cooper Shop can be seen. Far ahead the Smith shop is just barely visible in the distance. 001552028 542__ $$fhttp://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/ 001552028 6531_ $$aBinder 18 001552028 6531_ $$aTown Map 5F/NW 001552028 6531_ $$aCommunal Studies 001552028 6531_ $$aPhotographs 001552028 6531_ $$aRegional History 001552028 6531_ $$aRelated Materials -- 1951-2000 001552028 655__ $$aColor Slide 001552028 691__ $$aIndiana 001552028 7001_ $$aHistoric New Harmony 001552028 8564_ $$9d1d30d8c-aaf9-4fff-86f4-6111c37ac738$$s3635143$$uhttps://library.usi.edu/record/1552028/files/4977.jp2 001552028 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1552028$$pGLOBAL_SET 001552028 914__ $$ap17218coll9 001552028 980__ $$aHistoric New Harmony Slide Collection 001552028 984__ $$aHistoric New Harmony Slide Collection 001552028 985__ $$aImage
