Description

Beal House: The Beal House was moved during the Lanark Construction, on Town Block 8 E/W on Main Street to 611 Church Street. The Beal house was constructed around 1829 by John Beal, who was a carpenter in the Owen and Maclure community. Beal constructed the house from lumber and timbers from an older horse barn. The new location would be the site of the Beal House and 1850s Doctor's Office (The Doctor's Office was a remodel of the Kemmerling House, which was also moved to this site). Elmer Buchta Moving Engineers was contracted for this and many other building moves during the 1970s. In this photo the house is headed north on Brewery Street toward the new plat on Church Street. At this point it was in front of the house at 815 Brewery.
