Description

Guild Of Guides: The New Harmony chapter of the Indiana Junior Historical Society was called The Guild of Guides. The IJHS was formed in 1938 and this society had chapters, across the state of Indiana, which were formed by junior high and high school students who had an interest in historical things. The Guild of Guides produced a paper and photographs, in 1968, titled Architecture In New Harmony, Indiana, 1814 - 1969 which was published in a periodical produced by the IJHS. In this photo the group is standing, for the dedication of a tree, in front of the stone marker set at the front of Murphy Auditorium. This tree is still present in 2021 and is somewhat dislodging the stone marker.
