Description

U.S. Congressman Charles LaFollette (left) and another man touring damage caused by V2 bomb in Bethnal Green, with 50 casualties, no one killed. The V2 was the first long-range guided ballistic missile, used as retaliation for Allied bombing of German cities by German during WWII. According to Wikipedia, some 1358 were launched at London between 1944-1945. Details of the specific attacked documented here could not be found. Charles M. LaFollette was member of the U.S. House of Representatives, from the state of Indiana, from 1943-1947. In 1947 he served as deputy chief of counsel for war crimes in the Nuremberg war trials.
