The University of Southern Indiana has no class designed specifically for welding, or welding certifications. They do offer one or more classes that go into very brief detail on the topic of welding. Prior to the construction of the Applied Engineering Center, the Technology Center had welding stations similar to what we plan to design. The University currently has all the welding equipment needed to fit the scope of this project. The purpose of this project is to design functional welding cells for the ease of teaching and better space utilization. Our design consists of four welding cells and each of which will be supplied with ventilation for exhausting welding fumes. What we would like to see in the future is for this design to be implemented into the Applied Engineering Center and the creation of welding classes and/or being able to provide welding certification through the utilization of our design.
