This project is to design a path that will connect USI's parking lot K to the Applied Engineering Center (AEC). This path has become a necessity, in order, to ensure the safety of students and faculty traveling to and from the AEC. As of now, they use the roadway to travel, which is dangerous due to the traffic on that stretch of roadway. Therefore, the goal of this project is to design a path that cuts through a small wooded area to connect the parking lot to the AEC, thus, eliminating the use of the roadway. The path will cut across a drainage ditch and will proceed to weave through the trees to avoid additional tree clearing. It will then finally exit the wooded area and meet up with the AEC parking lot. This is depicted in the figure below. The two options are indicated by the blue and pink lines and the bridges are called out.
