Abstract
Lumberjack Engineering is a local company focused on helping entrepreneurs bring their ideas to
reality via rapid prototyping technology. Currently, a 3D printer is being used to create designs and
functional prototypes for the company, however a technology capable of quickly producing items that
do not require 3D features is desired. The solution to this challenge was to design, construct, and
test a CO2 laser cutter capable of rapidly producing "flat" parts. The objective of the project was to
create a design that had a larger cutting area and part thickness capacity than comparable commercially
available alternatives. Additionally, a. ventilation system and an enclosure were built to provide safety
for bystanders. This document contains a thorough explanation of current market alternatives, the
objectives of the project, an action plan to address the issues found in the market alternatives, and a
management plan to guide this project.
