TY - GEN AB - According to National Institute of Aging, one-third of people over the age of 65 fall every year. Eighty percent of those falls happen in the bathroom. The objective of this project is to design and build a mobile commode with lift assist seat to help the elderly stand after going to the bathroom. The mobile commode with lift assist seat is designed to be used as a bedside commode and can adapt to be used with regular bathroom toilets. It also includes an independent vertical and tilt control for adjusting sitting height and standing independently. This project will help eliminate falls in the bathroom which could result in over 13 million people having to move to nursing homes for living assistance or require extra living assistance.
