Summary
In Ayacucho, Peru at the beginning of Holy week in 2000, public prosecutor Felix Chacaltana Saldívar, a lonesome, scared, poetry loving man set in his old traditions, is forced to face the investigation of a horrible murder. The crime is the beginning of a series of mysterious deaths, and through his investigation, the public prosecutor does not discard the responsibility of the terrorist organization Sendereo Luminoso. Little by little, he will have to become familiar with the irregular methods of the police and the Peruvian army, and he soon becomes an undesirable man to all, and a stranger to itself. Abril rojo is a novel about Peru, its history, its symbols, "the orgy of corruption that inundates the country ", and about the war between the army and the Sendero Luminoso during Fujimori's presidency. This was a war in which Peru was lost, and its population, left in its misery, suffered without understanding. The story develops into a multifaceted plot at an excellent pace where we witness twenty years of brutal violence.
