During this time, the spread of crop production and other technologies, kinship-based labor projects, mound building, and population aggregation formed ever-changing conditions across the Andes. From Foraging to Farming in the Andes proposes a new and more complex model for understanding the transition from hunting and gathering to cultivation. It argues that such developments evolved regionally, were fluid and uneven, and were subject to reversal. This book develops these arguments from a large body of archaeological evidence, collected over thirty years in two valleys in northern Peru, and then places the valleys in the context of recent scholarship studying similar developments around world"--$$cProvided by publisher. 000446209 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 000446209 650_0 $$aIndians of South America$$xAgriculture$$zPeru$$zJequetepeque River Valley. 000446209 650_0 $$aIndians of South America$$xFood$$zPeru$$zJequetepeque River Valley. 000446209 650_0 $$aHunting and gathering societies$$zPeru$$zJequetepeque River Valley. 000446209 650_0 $$aAgriculture$$zPeru$$zJequetepeque River Valley$$xOrigin. 000446209 650_0 $$aPlants, Cultivated$$zPeru$$zJequetepeque River Valley. 000446209 650_0 $$aIrrigation farming$$zPeru$$zJequetepeque River Valley. 000446209 650_0 $$aExcavations (Archaeology)$$zPeru$$zJequetepeque River Valley. 000446209 650_0 $$aPlant remains (Archaeology)$$zPeru$$zJequetepeque River Valley. 000446209 651_0 $$aJequetepeque River Valley (Peru)$$xAntiquities. 000446209 7001_ $$aDillehay, Tom D. 000446209 7001_ $$aKaulicke, Peter. 000446209 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tFrom foraging to farming in the Andes.$$dNew York : Cambridge University Press, 2011$$z9781107005273$$w(DLC) 2010043693$$w(OCoLC)663443448 000446209 85280 $$bebk$$hEBSCOhost 000446209 85640 $$3EBSCOhost$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=366114$$zOnline Access 000446209 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:446209$$pGLOBAL_SET 000446209 980__ $$aEBOOK 000446209 980__ $$aBIB 000446209 982__ $$aEbook 000446209 983__ $$aOnline 000446209 994__ $$a92$$bISE
