An undated edition of the text bearing the imprint "Newcastle upon Tyne: printed and sold by John White" is attributed in the extended title on the verso of the titlepage to "S. Smith, M.A.", an allusion no doubt to Samuel Smith, Curate of Cressedge, author of 'David's repentance; or, a plain and familiar exposition on the 51st psalm'.
