Note
Comprises reports 1-6, originally issued separately, with a general titlepage, contents, appendices and an index.
'The first report of the Society ... Third edition', 1798, has a separate titlepage with "[Price one shilling]" at foot.
The pagination and register are continuous.
In this issue the 16pp. appendix coming after p. 68 was excised and pp. 413-436, 'Account of the society, its object, subject of inquiry, regulations, &c.', is the latest form of that excised appendix; apart from the titlepage to the first report, the titlepages to reports were also excised, the existence of which "reports" are evident from the drop-head titles on pp. 69, [129], [197] and [273] for the second-fifth reports, while there is nothing to indicate that the sixth report began after p. 352 as in the other issue.
