Vol. 1 was printed by William Bowyer; his records show 1500 copies printed.
McKenzie & Ross (A ledger of Charles Ackers, Oxford, 1968, no. 231) attribute the printing of v.1 to Ackers (who charged for printing 19 sheets of the work), on the basis of the imprint of v.2; however, Bowyer's records specifically mention v.1, and Bowyer ornaments appear throughout v.1. Ackers may have printed the last 19 sheets of v.2 (sig. S-2N), which exhibit different types from the preceding sheets.
