The 'Advertisement', signed by the editor and dated: W. J. Chester, March 15, 1792, states that "The following pages were first published at Edinburgh, about sixteen years ago, .. It is now re-printed chiefly to gratify the wishes of a few individuals, who have in vain sought to possess themselves of it .. the re-publication of it may not be without its use, .. the probability of which, the editor hopes, will be admitted by the .. author, as an apology for the freedom he takes of now re-printing it without his knowledge or consent".
