Although the address is dated on p. 4: Manchester, August 1, 1784, a statement after the date makes it clear that the address was not immediately printed after its delivery: "N.B. This address to the public, being patronized by the magistrates of Manchester, had the desired effect of establishing Sunday schools in that populous town and neighbourhood".
