[ ] It being thought expedient to raise volunteer companies, [electronic resource] : for the better Defence of this County, and particularly of Plymouth and its Vicinity, against any Attempt of the Enemy, and several Gentlemen having already offered their Assistance therein, and about Seventy Persons having also set down their Names, for serving in such Companies; the Inhabitants of this Town and Neighbourhood, are requested to meet the Mayor and Committee of Subscriptions, at the Guildhall, on Monday next, by Ten O'Clock in the Forenoon, to consider the Plans that will then be laid before them, and to adopt such Resolutions as shall be thought proper, for the better carrying into Effect the above Purposes.
