Each volume contains 24 8pp. sections, the first one in vol. 1 being 'Smollett's celebrated ode to independence', all originally issued separately (with 3 additional numbers issued after December 1798).
Printed by Robert Chapman, or (the later issues) by Chapman & Lang, his successors.
Vol. 1 is of the first issue; the titlepage bears the motto "Delicia musarum" and the verso of the titlepage contains the Advertisement to the reader.
Vol. 2 has the first two sections with swelled rules in their titles and the seventh section is 'Two original poems. The echo ..'; a variant (= second issue) has ornamental rules in the first two sections and the seventh section is 'The echo ..'.
The preliminaries to vol. 3 are numbered 1-8, with p. [5] headed 'Contents'; a variant has the titlepage and advertisement to the reader not numbered, the contents numbered 1-4 and headed: 'Volume third contains'.
