The Bodleian copy has this note: 'This paper wrote by Wilkes was printed in 1763 but being infamously false Clive was advisd to suppress it, and at a great expence bought up all that was printed off & carried them away in his own chariot - his friends grown bold in iniquity reprinted & curculated [sic] this paper a few days before the election April 1768'.
