A sure and easy help to pronunciation, by long, short, and broad accents over the vowels; by figures to express the number of syllables in words where they are doubtful; and, by inserting the word in crotchets according to the found. V. The young scholar's guide to English parsing, exhibiting all the parts of speech by initial letters. With a supplement, for occasional inspection: containing all the uncommon words in Johnson's abridgment, which were omitted in the first alphabet. To which are prefixed, a practical grammar; with directions for reading; the laws of versification; the explanation of prepositions and terminations; and examples of bad English, to be corrected by the rules of syntax. And a plan for the improvement of children in virtue and learning, without the use of the rod. With the present state and practice of the play-school in Belfast. By D. Manson, schoolmaster.
