Denouncing the government and courts of the colonies in general, and of Rhode Island in particular. Signed: G. Rome. The original manuscript, written by George Rome, a loyalist merchant of Newport, R.I., to Dr. Thomas Moffat, also of R.I., was among the Hutchinson-Oliver letters transmitted from England to Massachusetts by Benjamin Franklin in 1773, and subsequently printed and circulated throughout the colonies; cf. Evans 12818 and its variants. This broadside edition of Rome's letter is textually and typographically identical with the letter printed by Thomas and John Fleet in the June 28, 1773, issue of the Boston evening post. Text in four columns. Reproduction of original from Boston Public Library.
