Einstein famously quipped that God does not play dice with the universe, and Schrödinger is equally well known for his thought experiment about the cat in the box who is neither alive nor dead. Both of these images arose from these two men's dissatisfaction with quantum weirdness. As World War II raged, both men struggled to produce a Grand Unified Theory that would describe in full the universe's ultimate design. Though they failed, much of modern physics remains focused on the search for such a theory. And while Einstein and Schrödinger tried and failed to explain everything in the cosmos through pure geometry, the development of string theory has, in its own quantum way, brought this idea back into vogue. As in so many things, even when he was wrong, Einstein couldn't help but be right. 000718194 60010 $$aEinstein, Albert,$$d1879-1955. 000718194 60010 $$aSchrödinger, Erwin,$$d1887-1961. 000718194 650_0 $$aQuantum chaos. 000718194 650_0 $$aQuantum theory$$xPhilosophy. 000718194 650_0 $$aPhysics$$xPhilosophy. 000718194 650_0 $$aUnified field theories. 000718194 655_7 $$aAudiobooks.$$2lcgft 000718194 7001_ $$aRunnette, Sean,$$enarrator. 000718194 7102_ $$aBlackstone Audio, Inc. 000718194 85200 $$bscd$$hQC174.17.C45$$iH35$$i2015ab 000718194 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:718194$$pGLOBAL_SET 000718194 980__ $$aBIB 000718194 980__ $$aCD
