Visually depicting and assessing these threats using imagery and other geographically-referenced information is the mission of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). As the nature of the threat evolves, so do the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to respond. The challenge for NGA is to maintain a workforce that can deal with evolving threats to national security, ongoing scientific and technological advances, and changing skills and expectations of workers. Future U.S. Workforce for Geospatial Intelligence assesses the supply of expertise in 10 geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) fields, including 5 traditional areas (geodesy and geophysics, photogrammetry, remote sensing, cartographic science, and geographic information systems and geospatial analysis) and 5 emerging areas that could improve geospatial intelligence (GEOINT fusion, crowdsourcing, human geography, visual analytics, and forecasting). The report also identifies gaps in expertise relative to NGA's needs and suggests ways to ensure an adequate supply of geospatial intelligence expertise over the next 20 years. 000721018 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 000721018 61010 $$aUnited States.$$bNational Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. 000721018 650_0 $$aGeospatial data$$xGovernment policy$$zUnited States. 000721018 650_0 $$aGeospatial data$$xTechnological innovations. 000721018 650_0 $$aEmployees$$xTraining of$$xGovernment policy$$zUnited States. 000721018 7102_ $$aNational Research Council (U.S.).$$bCommittee on the Future U.S. Workforce for Geospatial Intelligence,$$eissuing body. 000721018 7102_ $$aNational Research Council (U.S.).$$bBoard on Earth Sciences and Resources,$$eissuing body. 000721018 7102_ $$aNational Research Council (U.S.).$$bDivision on Earth and Life Studies,$$eissuing body. 000721018 7102_ $$aNational Academies Press (U.S.),$$eissuing body. 000721018 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tFuture U.S. workforce for geospatial intelligence.$$dWashington : National Academies Press, [2013]$$z9780309269865$$w(OCoLC)830351841 000721018 852__ $$bebk 000721018 85640 $$3ProQuest Ebook Central Academic Complete$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://site.ebrary.com/lib/usiricelib/Doc?id=10863934$$zOnline Access 000721018 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:721018$$pGLOBAL_SET 000721018 980__ $$aEBOOK 000721018 980__ $$aBIB 000721018 982__ $$aEbook 000721018 983__ $$aOnline
