Scientific studies are limited for this volcanic system, due to its remote location and difficult access in winter. However, Copahue is one of the most active volcanic systems in the southern Andes. Monitoring the volcano's activity is of utter importance, as it provides means of existence for the nearby village of the same name, hosting the world's highest-located hot-springs resort. This book's aim is to present the current monitoring activities, and to describe future research programs that are planned in order to mitigate volcanic hazards. Special attention is therefore devoted to the social and industrial activities close to the volcano, such as health therapies and geothermal energy exploitation. In a special section, the Copahue volcano is presented as a terrestrial modern analog for early-Earth and Mars environments. 000742148 588__ $$aVendor-supplied metadata. 000742148 650_0 $$aVolcanoes$$zArgentina. 000742148 651_0 $$aCopahue Volcano (Argentina) 000742148 7001_ $$aTassi, Franco,$$eeditor. 000742148 7001_ $$aVaselli, Orlando,$$eeditor. 000742148 7001_ $$aCaselli, Alberto Tomas,$$eeditor. 000742148 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3662480042$$z9783662480045$$w(OCoLC)911364046 000742148 830_0 $$aActive volcanoes of the world. 000742148 85280 $$bebk$$hSpringerLink 000742148 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-662-48005-2$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000742148 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:742148$$pGLOBAL_SET 000742148 980__ $$aEBOOK 000742148 980__ $$aBIB 000742148 982__ $$aEbook 000742148 983__ $$aOnline 000742148 994__ $$a92$$bISE
