In Prague, Dr. Rösch worked on splenoportography and visceral angiography, while in the United States he developed the transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) and introduced embolization for treatment of GI bleeding and expandable metallic stenting of obstructions of major veins and the esophagus. In addition, he contributed to the improvement of coronary angiography and fallopian tube catheterization. The book also describes the author's role as the lead person in establishing the Dotter Interventional Institute in 1990. The Institute was the first freestanding, independent interventional radiology unit to deal with education, research, and patient care. Dr. Rösch's organization of scientific meetings and his early use of techniques for live internet broadcasting are described, and the book concludes by summarizing the multiple honors and awards that he received in recognition of his achievements. 000756198 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 000756198 60010 $$aRösch, J.$$q(Josef),$$d1925- 000756198 650_0 $$aRadiologists$$vBiography. 000756198 650_0 $$aInterventional radiology. 000756198 650_0 $$aMedicine$$xHistory. 000756198 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aRösch, Josef$$tAn Interventional Radiology Odyssey : The Story of My Life and Work$$dCham : Springer International Publishing,c2016$$z9783319338187 000756198 830_0 $$aSpringer biographies. 000756198 852__ $$bebk 000756198 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-319-33819-4$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000756198 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:756198$$pGLOBAL_SET 000756198 980__ $$aEBOOK 000756198 980__ $$aBIB 000756198 982__ $$aEbook 000756198 983__ $$aOnline 000756198 994__ $$a92$$bISE
