In the face of difficult life experiences like trauma, grief, illness, migration, education, queer identification, and consciousness-raising, individuals can be deeply disoriented, struggling to know how to go on. These and other disorientations are not rare. The book draws on first-person accounts, philosophical texts, and qualitative and quantitative research to show that in some cases of disorientation, individuals gain new forms of awareness of political complexity and social norms, and new habits of relating to others and an unpredictable moral landscape. It then argues for the moral and political promise of these gains. 000757091 588__ $$aDescription based on online resource; title from home page (viewed on April 26, 2016). 000757091 650_0 $$aEthics, Modern. 000757091 650_0 $$aAct (Philosophy) 000757091 650_0 $$aOrientation. 000757091 650_0 $$aFeminist theory. 000757091 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aHarbin, Ami.$$tDisorientation and moral life.$$dNew York : Oxford University Press, 2016$$z9780190277390$$w(DLC) 2015035937 000757091 830_0 $$aStudies in feminist philosophy. 000757091 85280 $$bebk$$hOxford Scholarship Online 000757091 85640 $$3Oxford scholarship online$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/acprof:oso/9780190277390.001.0001$$zOnline Access 000757091 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:757091$$pGLOBAL_SET 000757091 980__ $$aEBOOK 000757091 980__ $$aBIB 000757091 982__ $$aEbook 000757091 983__ $$aOnline
