It is the first book to focus on the politics of the conflict rather than the dispute itself. Since their emergence twenty years ago, this and other “frozen conflicts” of Eurasia have been affected by transformations in European security, and many ways absorbed into an ever fiercer geopolitical struggle for influence. The wars in Georgia and Ukraine brought greater attention to some unresolved conflicts, but not to the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. As the contributors to this volume argue, the conflict merits much greater European attention, for several reasons: it is on a path of escalation, existing mediation regimes are dysfunctional, and as both Georgia and Ukraine have showed, any outbreak of serious fighting will force the EU to respond. This book thus explains the interlocking interests of Russia, Turkey, Iran, the EU and United States in the conflict, and analyzes the negotiation process and the conflict’s international legal aspects. 000779302 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (viewed February 18, 2017). 000779302 651_0 $$aAzerbaijan$$xPolitics and government. 000779302 651_0 $$aArmenia (Republic)$$xPolitics and government. 000779302 651_0 $$aAzerbaijan$$xForeign relations$$zArmenia (Republic) 000779302 651_0 $$aArmenia (Republic)$$xForeign relations$$zAzerbaijan. 000779302 7001_ $$aCornell, Svante E.,$$eeditor. 000779302 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tInternational politics of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.$$z9781137600059$$z1137600055$$w(OCoLC)952981166 000779302 852__ $$bebk 000779302 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1057/978-1-137-60006-6$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000779302 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:779302$$pGLOBAL_SET 000779302 980__ $$aEBOOK 000779302 980__ $$aBIB 000779302 982__ $$aEbook 000779302 983__ $$aOnline 000779302 994__ $$a92$$bISE
