Compared to the use of herbicides, allelopathy is an attractive option to control weeds naturally under field conditions. The book highlights the allelopathic potential of several important cereals (wheat, maize, rice, barley, sorghum, rye) and two oilseed crops [sunflower and canola (as well as some other member of Brassicaceae family)]. Further, the book explains how the allelopathic potential of these crops can be manipulated under field conditions to suppress weeds. This is possible by growing allelopathic crop cultivars, using mulches from allelopathic crops, intercropping an allelopathic crop with a non-allelopathic crop, including allelopathic crops in crop rotation, or using allelopathic crops as cover crops. Equipped with several basic concepts of allelopathy, this book will be highly useful for the farming community as well as students and researchers. 000806813 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed March 6, 2017). 000806813 650_0 $$aAllelopathy. 000806813 650_0 $$aWeeds$$xControl. 000806813 650_0 $$aHerbicide resistance. 000806813 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aJabran, Khawar.$$tManipulation of allelopathic crops for weed control.$$dCham, Switzerland : Springer, 2017$$z3319531859$$z9783319531854$$w(OCoLC)967583489 000806813 830_0 $$aSpringerBriefs in plant science. 000806813 852__ $$bebk 000806813 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-319-53186-1$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000806813 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:806813$$pGLOBAL_SET 000806813 980__ $$aEBOOK 000806813 980__ $$aBIB 000806813 982__ $$aEbook 000806813 983__ $$aOnline 000806813 994__ $$a92$$bISE
