The CRC arose out of the merger of three groups with ties to the Communist Party, the International Labor Defense (ILD), the National Negro Congress, and the National Federation for Constitutional Liberties. CRC campaigns helped pioneer many of the tactics that civil rights movement activists would employ in the late 1950s and 1960s. The CRC folded in 1955 under pressure from the U.S. Attorney General and the House Un-American Activities Committee, which accused the organization of being subversive. 000809354 533__ $$aElectronic reproduction.$$bFarmington Hills, Mich. :$$cGale, a part of Cengage Learning,$$d2012.$$nAvailable via the World Wide Web.$$nAccess limited by licensing agreements. 000809354 61020 $$aCivil Rights Congress (U.S.) 000809354 61020 $$aCommunist Party of the United States of America. 000809354 650_0 $$aCivil rights$$zUnited States$$xHistory$$y20th century. 000809354 650_0 $$aAfrican Americans$$xCivil rights$$xHistory$$y20th century. 000809354 650_0 $$aAfrican Americans$$xHistory$$y1877-1964. 000809354 650_0 $$aCivil rights movements$$zUnited States$$xHistory$$y20th century. 000809354 651_0 $$aUnited States$$xRace relations$$xHistory$$y20th century. 000809354 7001_ $$aPatterson, William L.$$q(William Lorenzo),$$d1890-1980. 000809354 7102_ $$aCivil Rights Congress (U.S.) 000809354 7102_ $$aCommunist Party of the United States of America. 000809354 7102_ $$aSchomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. 000809354 830_0 $$aArchives unbound. 000809354 85280 $$bebk$$hGale Archives Unbound 000809354 852__ $$bser 000809354 85640 $$3Gale Archives Unbound$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://go.galegroup.com/gdsc/i.do?id=5888&v=2.1&u=usi&it=aboutCollections&p=GDSC&sw=w$$zOnline Access 000809354 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:809354$$pGLOBAL_SET 000809354 980__ $$aEBOOK 000809354 980__ $$aBIB 000809354 982__ $$aEbook 000809354 983__ $$aOnline
